Will There Be American Idol 2018?

Fox announced on May 11, 2015 that the American Idol season 15 is the final season in the series of American Idol. So meaning is clear that there won’t be any American Idol in 2018. Also as they already branded 15th season as American Idol: The Farewell Season, so I don’t think they will be returning with another season.

As the show is cancelled, so no American Idol 2018 audition details for the show. We will update if Fox might change their mind and bring another season in the amazing series. Hope for the best!!!

About American Idol:

The format of the show involves giving a platform to undiscovered, unsigned singing talents from across the country. The eligible age-range for contestants was fifteen to twenty-eight years old and they have to be US citizens.

American Idol employed a panel of judges who critiqued the contestants’ performances. These judges were-Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell which was modified for later seasons to include personalities like Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez, and Harry Connick, Jr.The first season was hosted by radio personality Ryan Seacrest and comedian Brian Dunkleman, with Seacrest as the sole master of ceremonies for the rest of the series.

These contestants went through three rounds of screening. The first is a brief audition which is judged by the producers of the show. In this round as many as 10000 people audition from each city. Out of them only a few hundred could make to the preliminary round of auditions. The selected candidates get a chance to perform in front of the judges, which is the only audition round to be aired on television. Now only 10-60 from each city are selected by the judges to be sent to Hollywood for further rounds.
In later rounds the audience at home also present their discretion through telephones, Internet, and SMS text voting. Based on this total score a winner is chosen among them.

The winner receives a record deal with a major label for up to six albums, and signs a management contract with American Idol-affiliated 19 Management. As per reports, all the winning contestants were able to earn up to least $1 million in their first year as winner. Also, they get chance to sign contracts with other major labels too.

Winners chosen by viewers in its fifteen seasons were Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Jordin Sparks, David Cook, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, Scotty McCreery, Phillip Phillips, Candice Glover, Caleb Johnson, Nick Fradiani, and Trent Harmon.

The show was a major hit and received accolades for its huge viewership. The show stands responsible for launching successful careers of some unrecognized singing sensations. The series was also said by a rival TV executive to be “the most impactful show in the history of television”. According to Billboard magazine, the show had been ranked number one in U.S. television ratings.

The show has a large number of viewers which enticed some major brands to use it as an instrument for their popularity. The show was sponsored by some great brands like- Coca Cola, Ford and Apple iTunes.
The series had till now run 15 successful seasons and still more to go. Also, the show is broadcasted to over 100 nations outside of the United States. The show’s great success has also resulted into some spin-offs like American Juniors, American Idol Rewind, American Idol Extra and The Next Great American Band.
